Small businesses are in the final stretch to apply for Government support due to Covid – 19
Update: The two largest Tasmania visitor markets, NSW and Victoria, keep going through difficult times by the Covid-19. Due to this situation, the Border Closure Critical Support Grant program has been supercharged. Eligible businesses whose applications are successful do not need to resubmit a new application because the funding request will be automatically updated. For this supercharge round people have until 2:00 pm Friday 8 October to complete their application.
In The initial Border Closure Grant program or the existing program, additional payments will be scaled by the business’ annual turnover, and to receive the November round payment, applicants will need to reconfirm their hardship status. The Department of State Growth has launched different financial programs that will support micro and small businesses in tourism, hospitality, arts and events, seafood and transport sectors, and other companies affected by the Covid-19. This current grant program will remain open for applications until 2:00 pm Thursday 23 September 2021.
Businesses will be eligible if they have suffered a notable reduction in the number of visitors because of the border closure restrictions or a reduction in the ability to provide, sell, or import/export goods and services. This economic impact needs to be in the comparative period before and after 26 June 2021.
People can demonstrate the reduction in turnover of at least 30 percent as a direct effect of the lockdowns and border closure restrictions, selecting any minimum two weeks consecutive period between 26 June of 2019 or 2020 compared with any equivalent two weeks after 26 of 2021.
